Green spaces in the city
Tiergarten
Tiergarten sits at the heart of Berlin, stretching towards Brandenburg Gate as a broad green pause between central sights. Rather than simply crossing it, choose one path, stop beneath the trees and leave the next part of the day open.
Britzer Garten
Britzer Garten is a spacious landscaped garden arranged around a lake. You do not need to see every corner: pick one route, notice how the planting changes along the way and let the surroundings set a slower pace.
By the water
Wannsee
Wannsee works best when the water is the main plan rather than a quick extra stop. Decide whether you want time by the shore or simply a pause with a view, and check current access and conditions before setting out.
Schlachtensee
Schlachtensee lies in the Grunewald in south-west Berlin, with wooded shores that suit an unhurried walk. Stay with one stretch of the lake and leave enough time to stop, instead of turning the visit into another route to complete.
Gardens, city corners and views
Gardens of the World
Gardens of the World brings together themed gardens and a series of smaller gardens inspired by places around the world across a large site. Choose two or three areas that genuinely interest you and give them time, rather than trying to turn the entire visit into a checklist.
Museum Island
Around Museum Island, art, architecture and the Spree sit close together. Pick one museum and leave time for a walk by the water, rather than trying to fit the whole ensemble into one afternoon.
Victory Column
The Victory Column’s viewing platform opens a panorama across Tiergarten and the city beyond. Pair it with a walk through the park and save the view for the finish; check current access before you go.
Straße des 17. Juni
Straße des 17. Juni runs through Tiergarten and past the Victory Column. Walk one stretch, then slip back into the park, and check for temporary closures when major events are taking place.
Berlin TV Tower
The Berlin TV Tower at Alexanderplatz offers a panoramic view from its viewing level 203 metres above the city. If you want to go up, check current tickets, time slots and access before setting out.
Funkturm Berlin
The Funkturm offers a western perspective on Berlin from its viewing platform 126 metres up. Check opening times and tickets before travelling, as events at the exhibition grounds can affect access.
